Jun Hao loses to Axelsen in French Open


PETALING JAYA: Men’s singles shuttler Leong Jun Hao’s bid to upset Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen fell short with a 16-21, 15-21 defeat.

The loss came in the opening round of the French Open on Wednesday (Oct 22).

It was Jun Hao’s second straight defeat to the Dane after their meeting at the Singapore Open last year.

Women’s singles shuttler K. Letshanaa also lost, going down 21-11, 13-21, 16-21 to India’s Unnati Hooda.

In women’s doubles, second seeds Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah battled past Taiwan’s Hsu Yun hui and Lin Jhih yun 21-16, 22-24, 21-12.
