PETALING JAYA: Malaysia enjoyed a fine day at the Arctic Open as two pairs, Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie, marched into the quarter-finals after cruising past their opponents on Thursday (Oct 9).

At the Energia Areena in Vantaa, second seeds Pearly-Thinaah defeated Indonesia’s Febriana Kusuma-Meilysa Puspitasari 21-15, 2113 in just 38 minutes. It was their third win against the pair.

The world No. 2 pair will next take on either Margot Lambert-Camille Pognante of France or Hsu Yin-hui-Lin Jhih-yun of Taiwan for a place in the semi-finals.

Following suit, mixed doubles pair Soon Huat-Shevon were in a class of their own as they dismantled Italian-English duo Innocenzo Santoro-Karen Feng 21-2, 21-5 in only 19 minutes.

The husband and wife duo will face a tougher test next against Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Supissara Paewsampran in the quarter-finals.
