Aidil settles for runner's up in Al Ain Masters

PETALING JAYA: Men's singles shuttler Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin's hopes of winning his first World Tour title were dashed after he went down to Finland's Joakim Oldorff in the Al Ain Masters final.

Aidil got off to a good start when he won the first game 21-14 against world No. 54 Oldorff but could not maintain his performance and lost the next two games 17-21, 7-21 in Abu Dhabi on Sunday (Oct 5).

It was a disappointment for the world No. 40 independent player a day after he pulled off an impressive victory over India's former world No. 1 K. Srikanth.

It was Aidil's second runner's up finish in a Super 100 competition after he was beaten by homester Alwi Farhan in the Indonesian Masters last year.
