Justin stuns Popov in HK Open

PETALING JAYA: Shuttler Justin Hoh pulled off a stunning win over Frenchman Toma Junior Popov to set up an all-Malaysian second round clash against Leong Jun Hao in the Hong Kong Open.

World No. 39 Justin played brilliantly to upstage world No. 13 Popov 21-12, 21-17 at the Hong Kong Coliseum on Wednesday (Sept 10).

Popov was the favourite but it was Justin who took control of the match from the start and impressively came away with the win in 43 minutes.

The 21-year-old has ensured a Malaysian representative in the quarter-finals as he will next face Jun Hao, who beat independent player Lee Zii Jia 21-16, 21-16 to book his spot in the second round.
