PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles shuttlers Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin’s fine run in the World Championships ended after they went down to China’s world No. 2 Jiang Zhenbang-Wei Yaxin in the quarter-finals.

Pang Ron-Su Yin fought bravely against the formidable Zhenbang-Yaxin before losing 23-25, 15-21 at the Adidas Arena in Port de la Chapelle in Paris on Friday (Aug 29).

It was the world No. 16 pair’s fourth defeat to the Chinese duo in five meetings.

Despite seeing their campaign come to an end, it was still an encouraging outing for Pang Ron-Su Yin, who were making their debuts together in the world meet.

The pair had reached the last eight for the first time since progressing to the same stage in the Orleans Masters in March.
