World No. 3 pair Dechapol-Supissara crash out in Paris

PETALING JAYA: World No. 3 mixed doubles pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Supissara Paewsampran became the latest casualties at the World Championships in Paris after crashing out in the third round on Thursday (Aug 28).

The Thai duo went down 8-21, 21-19, 21-16 to Japan’s world No. 9 pair Hiroki Midorikawa-Natsu Saito in their first-ever meeting at the Adidas Arena.

Dechapol-Supissara started strongly by taking the opening game but the Japanese pair fought back in the second to force a decider.

The Japanese will next face China’s Guo Xinwa-Cheng Fanghui on Friday (Aug 29).

Earlier in the second round on Wednesday (Aug 27), another shock unfolded when world No. 1 pair Feng Yanzhe-Huang Dongping of China suffered a 14-21, 21-13, 18-21 defeat to Denmark’s Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje.
