PETALING JAYA: Women’s doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah pulled off an impressive victory over China’s Paris Olympics champion Chen Qingchen and her new partner Wang Tingge to storm into the Thailand Open semi-finals.

World No. 4 Pearly-Thinaah were commanding throughout the last eight match and came guns blazing with a 21-14, 21-11 win in just 34 minutes at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok on Friday (May 16).

The top seeds will next face either Japan’s Rui Hirokami-Sayaka Hobara or Indonesia’s Meilysa Trias-Rachel Allessya and have a good opportunity to reach their second final this year.

Pearly-Thinaah last made it into a final in the Indonesian Masters in January where they finished runners-up to South Korea’s Kim Hye-jeong-Kong Hee-yong.
