Pearly-Thinaah make smashing start at Thailand Open

PETALING JAYA: Women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah let their racquets do the talking as they put aside the uncertainty over their contract situation to cruise into the second round of the Thailand Open.

The top seeds were in complete control during their opening match at the Nimibutr Arena in Bangkok, sweeping aside India’s Rashmi Ganesh-Sania Sikkandar 21-11, 21-5 on Wednesday (May 14).

Standing in their way next are Indonesia’s Lanny Tria Mayasari-Siti Fadia Ramadhanti, who beat Thailand’s Tidapron Kleebyeesun-Nattamon Laisuan 21-11, 21-14.

Also advancing are Teoh Mei Xing-Go Pei Kee, who had to dig deep in their first-round clash.

The eighth seeds were given a stern test by Taiwan’s Chen Su-yu-Hsieh Yi-en but came through with a 21-15, 18-21, 21-15 victory after 48 minutes.
