Jacky, Jimmy-Pei Jing settle for second best in Vietnam

PETALING JAYA: Shuttlers Jacky Kok and Jimmy Wong-Lai Pei Jing settled for runners-up in the men’s singles and mixed doubles respectively in the Vietnam International Challenge.

World No. 86 Jacky blew a good opportunity to win his first title since 2022 when he went down 21-23, 21-17, 15-21 to Thailand’s Puritat Arree (No. 204) in Hanoi on Sunday (March 30).

The independent player had won both his previous encounters against Puritat in the 2022 Swedish Open and in the Thailand Masters in January but could not continue his good run against the latter.

Meanwhile, Jimmy-Pei Jing, who were playing in their first tournament together, missed out on a perfect start after narrowly losing 19-21, 19-21 to Hong Kong’s Tang Chun Man-Ng Tsz Yau.
