Dania-Zi Yu hoping to upset seniors Xin Yee-Carmen in U-21 final

PETALING JAYA: Shuttlers Dania Sofea Zaidi-Low Zi Yu are out to topple seniors Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting again in the girls’ doubles final in the National Under-21 Championships today.

Johor’s Dania-Zi Yu famously stunned Xin Yee-Carmen en route to capturing a surprise silver in the World Junior Championships last October.

Second seeds Dania-Zi Yu have set up another meeting with the top seeds after a hard-fought 17-21, 21-14, 21-14 win over another Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) pair Chan Wen Tse-Vannee Gobi in Kuantan, Pahang yesterday.

Xin Yee-Carmen booked their spot in the final by beating teammates Gan Min Yee-Tan Zhing Hui 21-16, 21-19.

The former will be determined to justify their top seed status by coming out on top over Dania-Zi Yu this time.
