Soon Huat-Shevon go down fighting in Indian Open semis

PETALING JAYA: Mixed doubles shuttlers Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie suffered a heartbreaking defeat to China's world No. 2 Jiang Zhenbang-Wei Yaxin in the Indian Open semi-finals.

The world No. 4 husband-and-wife pair fought valiantly before going down 21-18, 19-21, 9-21 to Zhenbang-Yaxin in 51 minutes in New Delhi on Saturday (Jan 18).

It was Soon Huat-Shevon's seventh defeat in eight meetings with the Chinese duo with their only victory coming in the China Open last September.

The pair though can be proud of their efforts after making it into back-to-back semi-finals after also reaching the same stage in the Malaysian Open last week.
