Anders Antonsen bags King's Cup, earns big payday

PETALING JAYA: Danish shuttler Anders Antonsen has captured the King's Cup and won himself a whopping 1.1 million yuan (RM673,000).

In the invitational tournament organised by Chinese great Lin Dan, Antonsen fought hard to beat homester and world junior champion Hu Zhe An, 18-21, 21-11, 21-18 in a pulsating final in Shenzhen on Monday (Dec 30).

The victory was a boost for the Dane ahead of the Malaysian Open from Jan 7-12 in Bukit Jalil.

"Last match of 2024 ended up being one of the more memorable ones of the year," said Antonsen on social media.

"Got to play against the reigning world junior champion and what a fantastic performance he delivered."
