PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's professional shuttlers Chia Weijie-Lwi Sheng Hao have made the country proud by winning the Guwahati Masters in India on Sunday (Dec 8).

The unseeded duo Weijie-Sheng Hao huffed and puffed to beat Huang Di-Liu Yang of China 20-22, 21-15, 21-17 in the men's doubles final at Guwahati.

It was Weijie's second senior international title having won the Ukraine International Challenge with Low Hang Yee in 2022.

Both Weijie, 24 and Sheng Hao, 23, were dropped from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) set up but they refused to give up and had been training with other professionals under Teo Kok Siang since September this year.

"It’s a good start for us. Hope we can keep performing in the next tournaments," said Weijie.

They will take part in the Odisha 100 next.
