Hot streak continues for Sze Fei-Izzuddin and Soon Huat-Shevon in Arctic Open

PETALING JAYA: Doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie continued their good form by marching into the Arctic Open semi-finals.

World No. 8 Sze Fei-Izzuddin fought hard to beat Indonesia's world No. 6 Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto 23-21, 19-21, 22-20 in a thrilling 73-minute men's doubles match at the Energia Arena in Vantaa, Finland on Friday (Oct 11).

The independent pair will next take on either China's world No. 1 Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang or world No. 13 Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun for a place in the final.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin now have an opportunity to reach their third final of the year after winning the Japan and China Opens.

In the mixed doubles, world No. 10 Soon Huat-Shevon defeated fellow Malaysians Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin 21-19, 21-15 and will likely face China's world No. 3 Jiang Zhenbang-Wei Yaxin next.

Soon Huat-Shevon will be out to make it into their fourth final this year after capturing the Swiss Open and Malaysians Masters titles and finishing runners-up in the China Open.
