Pearly-Thinaah finish as runners-up after gallant run in Korean Open

Women's doubles pair Pearly Tan (left) and M. Thinaah had to settle for runners-up in the Korean Open after losing to homesters Jeong Na-eun-Kim Hye-jeong.

PETALING JAYA: Women's doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah finished as runners-up in the Korean Open after a gallant run to the final.

World No. 9 Pearly-Thinaah went down 12-21, 11-21 to homesters and former world No. 3 Jeong Na-eun-Kim Hye-jeong in the final in Mokpo on Sunday (Sept 1).

The Malaysians had toppled another home pair and world No. 2 Baek Ha-na-Lee So-hee in the last four but could not replicate their brilliant performance against an impressive Na-eun-Hye-jeong, who controlled the match from start to finish.

Despite the defeat, Pearly-Thinaah can hold their heads high after reaching their first final since finishing runners-up in the Hong Kong Open a year ago.

The pair last won a title in the 2022 French Open.
