Tze Yong ruled out of remaining tournaments this year

PETALING JAYA: Men's singles shuttler Ng Tze Yong will not compete in any tournaments until at least January 2025.

National coaching director Rexy Mainaky confirmed that Tze Yong - who underwent two back surgeries in February and April and missed the 2024 Paris Olympics - has been ruled out of all remaining competitions this year.

"Tze Yong's condition has improved a lot but he's still not back to normal and has not returned to full training yet," said Rexy.

"So, after discussions with singles coach (Tey) Seu Bock, we have decided it's best for him to only return to tournaments in January (next year)."

Tze Yong only competed in the Malaysian Open in January and Asia Team Championships in February this year and only played one full match in the Asia team meet.

The 24-year-old initially picked up the lower back injury in the first round of the home tourney.
