HK player defeats Zii Jia in second round of Indonesia Masters

PETALING JAYA: Independent men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia suffered another early exit after shockingly losing to Hong Kong's world No. 18 Angus Ng Ka Long in the second round of the Indonesia Masters in Jakarta on Thursday (Jan 26).

Zii Jia, who had seen his world ranking drop from No. 2 to No. 4 after going down in the early rounds of both the Malaysian and Indian Opens recently, was dealt a fresh blow when he succumbed 21-16, 20-22, 13-21 to Angus.

With the 24-year-old's defeat, Malaysia's challenge in the men's singles came to an end.

Earlier, world No. 28 Ng Tze Yong went down fighting 21-19, 8-21, 17-21 to India's world No. 12 Lakshya Sen.
