PETALING JAYA: Independent men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia crashed out of the French Open after losing to Indonesia's Shesar Hiren 19-21, 18-21 in the first round in Paris on Wednesday (Oct 26).

Just a day after reaching a career-high No. 2 in the world rankings thanks to his runners-up finish in the recent Denmark Open, Zii Jia suffered his second loss to Shesar this year.

The 24-year-old also came out second best to the Indonesian world No. 24 in the second round of the Malaysian Open in June.

Zii Jia will now look to do better in the Hylo Open in Germany next week.
