Malaysian Open: Zii Jia loses to Indonesia's Shesar Hiren in second round

KUALA LUMPUR: National men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia's hopes of winning the Malaysian Open were dashed when he was stunned by Indonesia's world No. 26 Shesar Hiren in the second round on Thursday (June 30).

The Malaysian fought hard, but came up short, and ended up losing a tense match 19-21, 21-19, 21-16 in 66 minutes.

It was sweet revenge for Shesar who had lost to Zii Jia in the semi-finals of the Thailand Open last month.

Men's doubles pair Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi brought some cheer to the fans by stunning Olympic champions Lee Yang-Wang Chi-lin 21-17, 21-18.
