Zii Jia makes remarkable comeback to capture Thailand Open title

PETALING JAYA: Lee Zii Jia smashed his way to lift his first back-to-back title in a stunning fashion.

The 24-year-old made a sensational comeback from 4-11 in a thrilling decider to beat a gritty Li Shifeng of China in the men's singles final of the Thailand Open at Impact Arena in Bangkok on Sunday (May 22).

Zii Jia, world No. 6, toiled for one hour and 10 minutes to beat the unseeded and spirited Shifeng 17-21, 21-11, 23-21.

The win meant that Zii Jia has won a second consecutive individual title for the first time in his career after capturing the Asian Championships early this month in Manila.
