SEA Games: Mixed doubles pair Tang Jie-Yen Wei come out on top over compatriots


PETALING JAYA: Chen Tang Jie-Peck Yen Wei captured the gold medal in the SEA Games badminton mixed doubles event on Sunday (May 22), adding to Malaysia's tally at the games.

The pair ended Malaysia's 23-year-wait for gold in the mixed doubles when they overcame their own teammates Hoo Pang Ron-Cheah Yee See 15-21, 21-19, 21-13 in a thrilling final at the Bac Giang Gymnasium.

This was the only gold contributed by the badminton contingent in this edition's Games.
