PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's men badminton team settled for silver after losing 0-3 to Thailand in the final of the SEA Games team competition in Hanoi.

Youngster Jacky Kok was given the duty to draw first blood but he found three-time world junior champion and world No. 18 Kunlavut Vitidsarn too hot to handle and lost 10-21, 15-21.

World No. 34 Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun gave their best to level the score but they squandered a game point in the second game to lose 20-22, 20-22 to Chaloempon Charoenkitamorn-Nanthakarn Yordphaisong.

In the second singles, Lee Shun Yang battled hard but he could not save the tie against the more experienced Khosit Phetpradab and went down 21-16, 13-21, 19-21 as the Thais celebrated.

The young Malaysian team can still hold their heads high after equalling their seniors' achievement in the past edition in 2019 in Manila.
