Bold effort after huge setback

Enduring pain in Spain: Cheam June Wei gave his best despite the limited training he had.

PETALING JAYA: National singles shuttler Cheam June Wei’s challenge in the Spain Masters has ended but he can still walk tall.

On Friday, June Wei went down 9-21,10-21 in just 33 minutes to top seed Shesar Hiren Rhustavito of Indonesia in the men’s singles quarter-finals in Huelva but it was still considered a big effort, as he had just recovered from Covid-19.
