Indian shuttlers in isolation in Germany after contact with positive Covid-19 case

PETALING JAYA: Three Indian players Lakshya Sen, Ajay Jayaram and Subhankar Dey have withdrawn from the SaarLorLux Open in Germany and have been put in isolation after they had a contact with a positive Covid-19 case.

Lakshya, Ajay and Subhankar had competed in last week's Denmark Open and had traveled to Germany for the Open that started on Tuesday in Saarbrucken.

Badminton World Federation )BWF) confirmed that the players and the Indian entourage have been isolated as a precautionary measure.

"The three players Lakshya Sen, Ajay Jayaram and Subhankar Dey will not compete further in the SaarLorLux Open 2020, which began on Tuesday 27th October 2020, and all three players and the team entourage have been placed into isolation," said the BWF statement.

"This is in line with directives from the local health authorities and BWF tournament health protocols.

All three players have tested negative for Covid-19 following the testing requirements for the tournament and are said to be in good health overall.
