KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's challenge at the China Open ended on Friday when national badminton ace, Datuk Lee Chong Wei (pic) went down to Angus Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong in the quarter-final.

The World Badminton Federation (BWF) official website said Chong Wei, who was seeded seventh for the tournament, slogged for 70 minutes before losing in a three set thriller, 12-21, 21-15 and 19-21.

Earlier, Chong Wei avenged his loss to Brice Leverdez by winning the second round match at Hiaxia Olympic Sports Centre.

Chong Wei suffered a shock loss to Leverdez of France in the first round of the World Championship in Glasgow, Scotland in August. - Bernama
