KUALA LUMPUR: It was a day of mixed fortunes for China in the Asian Badminton Championships (ABC) with Lin Dan emerging as the men’s singles champion while Wang Shixian was beaten in the women’s singles final in Gimcheon, South Korea.

Unseeded Lin Dan, the five-time world champion, recovered from a sluggish start to beat Sho Sasaki of Japan 14-21, 21-9, 21-15 in a 66-minute final on Sunday to nick his third ABC title. It was also Lin Dan’s second straight title, having won the China Masters Grand Prix Gold in Changzhou, China, last Sunday.
