PETALING JAYA: National sprinter Danish Iftikhar Mohd Roslee qualified for the men’s 200m semi-finals with a season’s best in the Asian Games at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium on Saturday (Sept 26).
The 19-year-old posted a time of 21:04s to finish second in his heat behind China’s Huang Youwen, who clocked 20.90s, while Saudi Arabia’s Abdulaziz Atafi was third (21.15s).
Danish's previous best time this year was 21.11s, which he set at the Varsity Track and Field One in Penang in April.
Danish holds the national record with a time of 20.73s.
Another Malaysian Mohd Haziq Mohd Akhir also qualified for the semi-finals after recording 21.44s to finish fifth in his heat.
He qualified as he had the 20th-fastest time among the 24 qualifiers in the 200m race.
The semi-finals are scheduled to start from 7.24 pm (Malaysian time) today.
