SERDANG: Terengganu’s Mohd Armin Zahryl Abdul Latif has retained the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 110m hurdles gold medal, and this time he did it in style by beating the Games record.
The 21-year-old national athlete set a time of 13.66s to shatter the earlier record set in the morning by Johor hurdler Mohd Hazriq Cik Mat Kilau, who clocked 13.78s in the semi-final heat at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) track in Serdang on Sunday (Aug 16).
Armin was just 0.03s away from matching his national record of 13.58s.
Hazriq finished second in the final with a time of 13.83s, while the bronze medal fell to Federal Territories’ Rizki A’Limi Mohd Zahizal.
In the women’s 100m hurdles, Kelantan’s Fatin Nashira Mohd Fadzil took gold with a time of 14.49s, but it was a close race with Perak’s Farah Syakira Azizsafar clocking 14.42s.
Selangor’s Syarifah Alisya Syed Zarfina took bronze, setting a time of 14.55s.
