KUCHING: Johor’s Umar Osman continues with his sensational run on the track in the Malaysia Games (Sukma).
The 21-year-old bagged his fourth gold in the Games after winning the boys’ 800m final with a time of 1:51.19s, which is also the new Sukma record, at the Sarawak Stadium in Petra Jaya on Friday (Aug 23).
The previous record was held by Armed Forces’ G. Ampumani, who clocked 1:52.35 at the 1992 Sukma.
Silver went to Federal Territories’ P. Risheraam, who clocked 1:55.31, while Pahang’s S. Sri Murugan took bronze with a time of 1:55.46.
Umar has also won the 400m and both the 4x400m mixed and team relays.
He shattered the Games record in the 400m and the boys’ 4x400m record.
Meanwhile, Sarawak’s Jonah Chang Rigan swept all the medals in the throwing events when he bagged the hammer throw gold with a distance of 54.56m.
Silver went to Perlis’ Rizad Azri Che Radzi (48.70m), while Sabah’s Nabil Faiz Ayub took bronze (46.50m).
It was Jonah's third gold in the Games, having won the shot putt and discus earlier.
