Another gold for Malaysia


PETALING JAYA: National para athlete Nazmi Nasri has clinched Malaysia's second gold medal at the Para Athletics World Championship in Kobe, Japan.

PETALING JAYA: National para athlete Nazmi Nasri has clinched Malaysia's second gold medal at the Para Athletics World Championship in Kobe, Japan today (Thursday).

Nazmi won the men's long jump T37 (moderate hypertonia/ataxia/athetosis) final with a distance of 6.13m.

He finished by a large margin ahead of Greece's Konstantinos Kamaras who had a distance of 6.01m in second, equal with Brazil’s Mateus Evangelista in third.

Nazmi had also beaten his previous personal best distance of 5.74m set at the Nakhon Ratchasima International Para Athletics in Thailand in January.

Ziyad Zolkefli delivered the first gold for Malaysia in the men's F20 shot putt event on Tuesday.
