PETALING JAYA: Mohd Azeem Fahmi (pic) can’t wait to race against Japan’s Hiroki Yanagita and Thailand’s Puripol Boonson at the Asian Games, and this time he wants to do better.
The sprinters’ rivalry started at the World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia last year where Puripol, Azeem and Yanagita finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively in the race won by Letsile Tebogo of Botswana with a world Under-20 record of 9.91s. It was in Cali where Azeem created a new national record of 10.09 in the heats while Puripol also recorded the same time.
