Sprinter on track to be included in Paris Olympics programme

Aim higher: Mohd Azeem Fahmi will be back in Malaysia to take part in the two meets next month.

PETALING JAYA: Sprinter Mohd Azeem Fahmi has a good chance of being included in the Road to Gold (RTG) high performance training programme, says 2024 Paris Olympics chef-de-mission Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin.

The 19-year-old national record holder, who is currently with Auburn University, last week posted a time of 10.04s to finish sixth in the heat three quarter-finals of the NCAA East First Round 100m race in Jacksonville, Florida. But the time wasn’t recognised as the tailwind was 5.5 metres per second, beyond the legal limit of two metres per second.
