The one to beat: Irfan Shamsuddin will be gunning for a fifth straight gold medal at the SEA Games in Hanoi next month.

PETALING JAYA: Discus thrower Irfan Shamsuddin was irked by a 90-minute delay in his event but it did not stop him from registering his season best at the Singapore Open and stay on track to defend his SEA Games gold in Hanoi next month.

Irfan hurled his discus to 59.15m to win his event as John Albert Mantua of the Philippines was a distant second (49.57m) while Singapore’s Eric Yee Chun Wai was third (47.67m).
