He’s got it all: Russel Nasir Taib will be back home soon to compete in the Malaysian Grand Prix from March 30-31 at the training track in Bukit Jalil.
Malaysian-born sprinter Russel Nasir Taib, who is based in Australia, is blessed with both brains and brawn. And to top that, the 20-year-old sports psychology student also has the heart to excel in athletics. On Saturday, he showed his pedigree by breaking the men’s 200m national record with a time of 20.77 at the Queensland Track Classic in Brisbane. The mark erased the previous record of 20.90 set by Khairul Hafiz Jantan in the Malaysian Open in 2017. And there’s more to come from Russel if his determination is anything to go by. StarSport’s AFTAR SINGH caught up with the country’s fastest man over 200m to find out more about his recent exploits and future goals.
