Budget 2027: Dialysis patients are in great need of aid

I AM writing to respectfully appeal to Malaysia’s Madani government to give urgent and serious consideration to the financial predicament of thousands of Malaysians living with end-stage kidney disease who depend on regular dialysis treatment to survive.

My appeal is prompted by the government's announcement that 53,000 taxi, hire-car, and school-bus drivers will receive a one-off financial assistance payment of RM1,000 each, involving a total allocation of RM53mil. I recognise the important contribution these drivers make to our economy and society, and I do not begrudge them this assistance. Many hardworking Malaysians deserve support, particularly when they face economic uncertainty.
