Weak fiscal management threatens the nation’s future


THE Prime Minister’s Senior Political Adviser, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, informed the media yesterday that the country’s fuel subsidy burden, now reaching RM4bil per month, has evolved into a serious fiscal challenge.

Although Petronas has recorded significant profits following the rise in global oil prices, these earnings are insufficient to sustain the government’s subsidy expenditure in the long term.
