I HAVE been reading about the ongoing campaign by a coalition of animal welfare organisations to urge the government to amend the Animal Welfare Act 2015 after Kopi, a well-known stray dog in Terengganu, was shot dead during a culling ­operation by the Besut district council last year.

Just last month, animal rights activists from across Malaysia attended a candlelight vigil at Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur to call for those responsible for Kopi’s death to be brought to justice.
