Where is our local white rice?

I RECENTLY read this post by a user called Ibrahim Sani on X, formerly Twitter: “You wanna know if we have a food supply crisis? Just ask Mydin. Normal: 17,000 bags of locally produced rice/week. 2nd week Sept 2023: 300 bags of locally produced rice/week. We are in a crisis.”

The next day, I went to Lotus’s in Gelugor and I couldn’t find even a bag of local rice. But there was imported rice galore in the hypermarket, and the cheapest that was available was more than RM38 for a 10kg bag.
