Attracting tourists with multiple-entry visas

I REFER to the report on Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri expressing hope that the Home Ministry would consider granting multiple-entry visas to tourists visiting our country, “Consider granting multiple entry visas to foreign visitors, says Nancy” (The Star, July 28; online at https://bit.ly/3brJg3k).

Why are visas imposed on citizens from 10 countries anyway? Currently, holders of passports issued by 63 countries are granted visa-free entry to Malaysia for 90 days, nationals from another 95 countries for 30 days, and citizens from two nations for 14 days.
