Stop the bullying and abuse of trainee doctors in Malaysia

MCA Youth takes very seriously a report published on 10 May, 2022, in the New Straits Times (Bullying of housemen an open secret), stating that bullying and abuse by senior doctors against trainee doctors has long been rampant. Administrators of public hospitals who are aware of these acts must not allow them to continue as if nothing had happened.

The authorities, particularly the Health Ministry and medical experts across the country, should take all necessary steps to put an end to this bullying culture. Suspicions have been raised following the deaths of a few trainee doctors. However, no follow-up actions appear to have been taken due to a lack of evidence, until another such incident occurred. This vicious cycle of abuse must be broken.
