Disclose govt-MySejahtera negotiation details to ease public worries, says MCA

THE custody of data collected by MySejahtera has become a contentious issue of public interest recently.

Many Malaysians have expressed worries that their personal data could be misused by irresponsible parties, as well as people who question the government’s transparency and whether taxpayers’ money has been utilised properly.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has since responded and explained that the custodians of the data had always been the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), National Security Council (NSC) and Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu), alongside a non-disclosure agreement with the app developer.

In addition, Khairy also assured that no payment had been made to any private companies.

At present, the government is still negotiating with app developer MySJ Sdn Bhd regarding the contract subscription terms, and had assured that the price will be much lower than the figure reported (RM338.6mil).

I agree with Khairy’s statement that the government should choose another vendor if negotiations with MySJ Sdn Bhd do not reach a fair agreement.

In this information overloaded era, the people are susceptible to all kinds of rumours and conspiracy theories without an accurate source of information.

Hence, we urge Khairy to continue to update the people regarding any developments in this matter to ensure clear communication between the government and the people.
