WE have it on good authority from newspaper commentators and reports that Malaysia’s performance in road safety is one of the worst in the world.
The country’s death rate from road accidents is the third highest in Asia: There were nearly 7,000 road crash deaths in 2017 and this figure is projected to exceed 10,000 next year. The World Health Organisation estimates that for every road traffic death there are 15 serious injuries.
