THERE are accusations that the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is trying to curtail press freedom and freedom of expression.

The truth is, Jokowi himself is being vilified by certain quarters of the media. His support for the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka team during Indonesia’s recent general election irked many people.
