Tajikistan's agricultural output up 8.5 pct in first 3 quarters

DUSHANBE, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Tajikistan's agricultural output totaled 67.1 billion somoni (about 7.3 billion U.S. dollars) in the first three quarters of 2026, up 8.5 percent year on year, the Khovar news agency reported Sunday, citing data from the country's Ministry of Agriculture.

The Khatlon Region accounted for the largest share of agricultural output at 53.3 percent, followed by the Sughd Region at 31.4 percent. Dushanbe and the cities and districts under republican subordination accounted for 14.2 percent, while the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region accounted for 1.1 percent.

The increase was mainly driven by higher production of potatoes, vegetables, field crops, grapes and livestock products, according to the report.

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of Tajikistan's economy. The country's agricultural exports reached 40.5 million U.S. dollars in the first half of 2026, up 6.7 million dollars, or 19.7 percent, from the same period last year, according to the Export Agency under the Tajik government.
