THE HAGUE, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Storm Boelo brought strong winds to the Netherlands overnight and on Sunday, disrupting air traffic at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport and causing damage in several areas.

The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) issued a yellow weather warning on Sunday for coastal areas, forecasting gusts of 75 to 90 km per hour and warning of falling branches and traffic disruption.

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport said on its website on Sunday that "due to strong winds, fewer flights are expected to take off and land on Sunday, October 25."

As of Sunday evening, data from Flightradar24, a global flight tracking service, recorded 192 flights cancelled and 528 delayed at the airport. The cancellations mainly affected European destinations, including Paris, Manchester, Prague and Frankfurt.

According to Dutch public broadcaster NOS, Storm Boelo caused damage in several parts of the Netherlands overnight and on Sunday.

In Amsterdam-Noord, a falling tree struck a moving car, injuring the driver, who was taken to hospital. In Rijnsburg near Leiden, a house sustained storm damage, while in Culemborg, a tree fell onto a parked car, leaving the car severely damaged.

The KNMI said strong winds were expected to ease in coastal provinces by Sunday evening, though strong gusts would persist into the night in some northern areas.
