GENEVA, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- A display board showcasing China's Wuyi Mountain was unveiled at Switzerland's Grindelwald-First mountain on Friday in simultaneous ceremonies linked by video, marking the destinations' sister-peaks partnership between Yunv Peak, a landmark of Wuyi Mountain, and the Swiss Alpine destination.

At an altitude of more than 2,100 meters, Grindelwald-First mountain was dusted with drifting snow as Alpine peaks emerged from the mist before fading from view. On the newly unveiled board, Yunv Peak was reflected in a clear stream, with bamboo rafts gliding below. The display brought together the landscapes of China and Switzerland, as guests in both countries witnessed the ceremonies via video link.

Oliver Hammel, chief executive of Jungfrau Railways, which operates Grindelwald-First mountain's tourism facilities, said he hoped the display would inspire more international visitors to explore Wuyi Mountain.

"We receive guests from all over the world," he told Xinhua. He expressed hope that visitors would scan the board's QR code to learn more about Wuyi Mountain and eventually travel there themselves.

Presented in Chinese and English, the board highlights cooperation in sustainable tourism and cultural exchange. It also showcases Wuyi Mountain's UNESCO World Heritage status, which recognizes its cultural and natural significance, as well as activities such as hiking, bamboo rafting and visits to tea plantations.

Yunv Peak, also known as Jade Maiden Peak, and Grindelwald-First form the fourth pair of sister peaks linking China and Switzerland. Previous partnerships have linked Yulong Snow Mountain with the Matterhorn, Mount Huangshan with the Jungfrau, and Mount Emei with Mount Rigi.

Fujian Wuyishan Culture and Tourism Group and Jungfrau Railways signed the agreement in November 2025 to promote tourism and cultural exchanges between the destinations.

Located in Switzerland's Jungfrau Region, Grindelwald-First attracts visitors with its spectacular Alpine scenery and diverse outdoor activities. Wuyi Mountain, meanwhile, is renowned for its Danxia landforms, characterized by striking red sandstone cliffs and peaks, as well as its tea culture, rich biodiversity and cultural heritage.

Hammel noted that two of the Swiss peaks involved in the partnerships -- the Jungfrau and Grindelwald-First -- are in the Jungfrau Region.

"The Chinese market, Chinese guests, and exchange with China are important for us," Hammel said, adding that he looked forward to welcoming more Chinese tourists.

In his ceremony address, Hammel also said the two destinations could share experience in sustainable tourism and conservation, helping preserve their landscapes for future generations.

Cui Ke, counselor at the Chinese Embassy and director of the China Cultural Center in Bern, addressed the ceremony on behalf of Chinese Ambassador Qian Minjian. He described the unveiling as another example of cooperation between the two countries in culture and tourism.

Cui expressed hope that the display would serve as more than a photo opportunity, encouraging visitors to discover both destinations and fostering closer ties between the two countries.

Speaking at the outdoor ceremony in Wuyi Mountain, Li Yan, deputy mayor of Wuyishan City, called for closer cooperation in mountain tourism. She said she hoped more Swiss visitors would discover Wuyi Mountain and more Chinese travelers would experience the Swiss Alps.

For Swiss participant Roger Strahm, Wuyi Mountain is already on his travel wish list.

"I am keen to visit Wuyi Mountain to explore its beautiful landscapes and experience China's rich tea culture and profound historical heritage," said Strahm. "I hope that there will be more opportunities for exchanges between the two destinations, allowing more Swiss friends to discover Wuyi Mountain, appreciate its beauty, and fall in love with all that it has to offer."
