NEW YORK, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 360.21 points, or 0.69 percent, to 52,856.09. The S&P 500 added 44.6 points, or 0.58 percent, to 7,757.17. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 278.04 points, or 1.05 percent, to 26,702.86.
Seven of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in the green, with technology and industrials leading the gainers by going up 1.61 percent and 0.91 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, communication services and real estate led the laggards by losing 1.33 percent and 0.79 percent, respectively.
