39 Tunisian high school students receive Chinese ambassador scholarships

TUNIS, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Thirty-three Tunisian high school students received Chinese Ambassador Scholarships on Saturday in recognition of their participation in cultural exchanges between Tunisia and China, the Chinese embassy said.

Set against the backdrop of rapidly developing China-Tunisia relations, the scholarships aimed to encourage more Tunisian students to study the Chinese language and pursue higher education in China, helping them "better understand a real and multi-faceted China" and strengthen bilateral ties, said Chinese Ambassador to Tunisia Wan Li.

Riadh Dridi, dean of the International Diplomatic Academy of Tunis, said the scholarships align the strategic partnership between Tunisia and China with the aspirations of Tunisia's younger generation, offering them the opportunity to become an active force in shaping the future of the relationship between the two countries.

Chahd Ben Hadj Yahia, a high school student and one of the recipients, said she will continue her Chinese language studies.

Yahia said she wanted to be an ambassador fostering mutual cultural understanding and promoting friendship between Tunisia and China in the future, contributing to friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two nations.
