Saudi Arabia extends remote learning in Riyadh through Oct. 22

RIYADH, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi Ministry of Education said on Saturday that the shift from in-person classes to remote learning in the Riyadh region will be extended through Oct. 22 as part of ongoing precautionary measures.

The ministry said on the social media platform X that classes will continue via the Madrasati platform and other approved online educational platforms, covering all students as well as teaching and administrative staff at schools in Riyadh city and Diriyah Governorate.

Schools in the region switched to online lessons for one week starting Oct. 11, a day after a missile strike on King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital Riyadh killed 12 people and injured 309, according to the General Authority of Civil Aviation.

Yemen's Houthi group has repeatedly targeted the airport in recent days.
