Conti's late header lifts Gimnasia LP past Huracan

BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- German Conti struck in the seventh minute of stoppage time as Gimnasia La Plata reinforced its title credentials with a 2-1 win at Huracan in Argentina's Clausura tournament on Thursday.

Ignacio Fernandez gave the visitors the lead with a diving header at the far post after Pedro Silva Torrejon's cross from the left flank.

The hosts equalized through Jordy Caicedo, who converted from the penalty spot after Harlen Castillo brought down Cesar Ibanez.

But the visitors wrested back the lead in the 97th minute when Conti ghosted past Huracan's defense and headed into the far corner following Fernandez's delivery from a set piece.

The result leaves Gimnasia fourth in the 15-team Zone B standings with 22 points, three ahead of sixth-placed Huracan.
